09 Week #7 Self-Assessment

It's time for parent-teacher conferences already again. For this week's blog I would like you to take a moment to reflect on what you have learned during the first part of this second of semester of class. What are some ways that you are stretching yourself and trying to develop your digital media skills? What are some things you are doing really well with? What areas could you show some improvements in? Self-critique is good once in awhile, often more important than percentage or letter grades, and I would love to hear things from your point of view.

I would also like you to post what you are considering for your Digies project. I know the time will sneak away from us like always and I would love to help you out as you formulate your plan for yet another impressive digital media project.

Coming into the second semester, I didn't know anything about Digital Media, nor did I know what to expect. I've learned more on I-movie 08, rather than the Final-Cut Pro, which has been pretty difficult on what I've done with it. I feel a lot more comfortable with a camera. But, I definately could use a lot of improvement on Final-Cut pro. I still have high hopes for the rest of the year, of increasing my knowledge in all the aspects of digital media from cameras to Final-Cut. I'm looking to maybe doing a sports high lights video, though everyone else is too!

I have learned many new things so far this year. Mostly with Final cut. For our project we have been learning how to have to videos sharing the same screen at once(Although we still need to work on the a little bit). I've learned how to use the b-roll and when to use it. Using final cut has definitely stretched my skills because i didnt know anything about it to begin with. Now even after using it for awhile and having an understanding of it i know there is still so much more that i can learn. And i really hope to with my next project that i am doing with Jenna. We are doing the wrestling highlights video. We hope we can figure out somethings with final cut to make our video unique and stand out.

This semester so far I have found that I am trying to develop my skills in planning and organizing. Sometimes I get wrapped up in an idea without creating a storyboard or anything. I think that I have the creative ideas to come up with a project and I think that has been something that has helped me so far. One of my weaknesses would definitely have to be that I am a perfectionist AND a procrastinator which are a BAD combo!

For Digies, McKenna and I will be making a movie that I think will be a comedy but we haven't decided Exactly what to do yet!

This semester I feel I have grown in the camera and digital media world. However, there is more room to grow. I have streched my digital media skills by learning and experiencing how to edit clips and flim footage while considering camera angles, sound, and lighting. I could improve in learning about final cut more and learning more editing techniques. I think that if I do more with final cut I can teach myself and learn more about it.
For the Digies project I am considering to make a short movie with a basic idea. However, I have yet to think of my idea!

So far second semester, I think I have learned most about all the different camera angles and how important they are to make a good film. Now, while I watch movies or TV I alwasy think about the angle and how they did that, which gets really annoying, but I guess it is good for me. I already know a lot about iMovie so I need to learn much more about Final Cut so I can make good projects. I think if I understood Final Cut better, I would be more motivated to try to do something more creative. As for my Digies project, I plan on making a highlight video for the girls basketball team with Liz.

This semester i've learned a little more about cameras and video cameras. I've learned that using different angles can add so much to a movie or picture.I have learned more about the camera and mikes. Also i have learned more about Imovie 08. I didn't really know how to use it or what all you can do with it, but I now know more than before.
I would really like to learn more about Final cut and Motion. They have so many cool things you can do that I don't even know about. So I would really like to try to work with those more.
For the Digies, Hayley and I are thinking about making a comedy. We haven't really thought about a story line but I'm sure we'll come up with something great!

Entering this semester I didnt know much about movie making. So far this semester I have learned more about video camera's and also about I-movie 08 and a little about Final cut pro. I think that somethings I have done well is think of creative shots and differnt things to add the movies. I think I could really use inprovement in Final cut pro I don't know everything you can do with it.For the Digies project I am thinking about doing a sports high light video.

I really have no idea how to run final cut. It is very frustrating to me. For the Digies project me and Kelsey are doing a highlight video for basketball.

I think that just the few projects that we did at the beginning of the semester really taught me a lot. They showed a lot of errors that were really easy fixes, and now I know what to look out for. I feel really confident using the i-movie programs, but Final cut not so much. Using the camera is not much of an issue anymore. One thing that I think that I'm really trying to improve at is just thinking outside the box, I'm making a highlight video for digies and I really want to include somethings that people have not done in the past.

Obviously this blog is a little late but I still have learned alot and I am continuing to learn more about Digital Media every day. Considering you can do an unlimited amount of things when it comes to digital design, I still have alot to learn. But I feel that I have mastered the green screne on both Imovie 09 and Final cut. I also feel that I'm good at filming interveiws at different angles. Lighting is something that I'd like to learn more about, but I think that I have gotten pretty good at noticing the lighting in a scene. As for Final cut in general, I think that I have learned alot and I am able to make a good movie from it!
