"I want my MTV!"
The blog for Week #6 involves your ideas on music videos. Whether CMT, MTV, or YouTube, you have all watched your share of music videos. Tell about techniques you like, don't like, or are indifferent about. What captures your interest and makes you want to listen to the song even after you are away from your TV or computer? Let's share some ideas about video in the production of music videos.

I am really not fond of music videos that only tell a story. I think music is supposed to make you feel a certain way when you listen to it, and when you only show a story that the song describes, you take away the feeling. Also, I am not fond of music videos that look like concerts... makes me think they couldn't come up with anything better than that. Techniques that i do like are flashbacks depicting emotional events. They hold more meaning than anything else. If it is a good music video, you feel exactly what the artist intended you to feel during the video, and every time you listen to the song afterwards.
I really don't care to watch music videos... I do not base my interests on the beat, not how "talented" the dancers are, or how much money they put into the video. I like music based on the beat and the artist's singing ability. Music videos are too trashy these days... I don't like to turn on the television and watch girls in little bottoms that would hardly serve as underwear!
However, I do enjoy watching videos that involve time and thought; they have a message. For example, Nickelback's "Saving Me." But, I agree with Daniel and prefer not to watch concert clips. It's not original and the crowd can be distracting.
I LOVE watching music videos. Whenever I hear a song I try to find the music video to watch as well. What I like about music videos is how if you dont really understand the song and what it REALLY means most likely you will understand by watching the music video. I like music videos that not only tell a story but also include talents such as the performer dancing. I like the extremes, either completely sappy love story music videos that make your cry or either a upbeat fast paced song filled with dancing!
i kind of like random music videos that don't tell a story but have a certain fun feeling about them. for example two of my favorite music videos are for "The Best of Me" by the Starting Line and also for "Grand Theft Autumn" by Fall Out Boy. both of these videos are fairly random and fun, and that's what i like.
I don't watch a lot of music videos but when I do I really enjoy it.I like it when they tell a story because I become more interested. But also I like when they flash to the artist because it shows their passion for their music. I believe that every music video should have a message, that's why I like the CMT videos more than the ones on MTV. I feel like the ones on MTV are all about the dance moves or dancers and the ones on CMT the viewer can relate to.
I honestly love music videos. I like the ones that tell a story the best. I think it's too plain and not creative enough to just see the band playing. The best videos have emotional situations and make you want to know what happens to the "character" or the person the song is about.
I think that the way that the way the music and video are presented have a lot to do with my opinion and view of the music.
I enjoy watching music videos occasionally. As about everyone has said I also do not like the videos that are just filming a concert. My favorites tell a story, with some interesting extra stuff in there that makes you think a little more than if you were just listening to the song with no images.
I don't watch very many music videos, but when I do I like the ones that tell a story. I don't really like the ones that focus on the singer. I think that the video should tell a story that way the artist can show what they meant in the song, and why they wrote it. By telling a story I think it keeps people's attention and keeps them more interested.
I dont really like music videos where it's like a concert or jsut the band singing either. I like videos like ciera said. Especially "saving me" by Nickleback.
I REALLY enjoy watching music videos...whether I'm watching TV or cleaning my room, that's usually what I turn to first. MTV and VH1 have mainly switched to reality and game shows. If they do show music videos, it's usually in the morning. Because of this I often times just watch CMT because they are always showing them. I like music videos that have a story behind them and that really tie the song together. I don't care for videos that have no point behind them, such as when the only thing seen throughout is the singer singing.
I like watching music videos. I don't care for the ones that are from their concerts either. I think when you watch the music video you get the meaning of the song so much better.
