This is not just a pun, but an actual student Film festival held every year in California. Click on the link to the student-produced movies here: http://www.sfett.com/html_movie/Ican/4.html
Notice that you can click on the numbers across the top to view additional years of entries. Watch as many as you like... then review at least one of them. What did you like, not like, wonder, etc... Pretend you are Siskel and Ebert and give your candid review. Make sure you leave us the URL so that we can go watch it as well!

The film that i reviewed was the TV violence one. What I liked about this clip was how much truth it told. There really wasn't much not to like in this clip. The maker of it put a good point across and caught attention with all the different footage that he/she got.

The watched the Sac movie. This movie showed kids hacking. What I liked was in the beginning when they zoomed in and out on the hacky sack to the beat of the music. Another thing that I liked is when they put it in slow motion. I also liked all the different angles that this movie had. I thought that it was cool each time a kid kicked the sack they were kicking it was like they were kicking it to someone else in a different scene. One thing I didnt like though is when this turned the screen horizontal.http://www.sfett.com/html_movie/Ican7/sac.html

South Central Farm is the video that I watched. I thought it was put together very well. I watched quite a few of these and this was the first one to catch my attention. The background music, with noise occasionally cutting into the shot adds a lot of interest. There was no actual footage except the one shot at the end, but the noise added when showing the photos of the event makes it seem more like actual footage. The film was good because it left me wondering who destroyed this garden and why. They left a URL at the end so I am assuming that the purpose was to get you to wonder and then for you to visit the web site that they provided. Overall I thought that it was a very good film. http://www.sfett.com/html_movie/Ican7/south_central_farm.html

The movie that I watched/reviewed was "love letter". For the most part it was a good idea to use for a film but there was too much of one sequence (it was the delivery stage if any of you watched it). I liked that the camera angles varied quite a bit, I just thought that it should have been a lot shorter than what it was. It took too long and the viewer would easily lose interest or get bored. The idea was good, the execution could use some work.

In the Love Letter, they do a good job deciding what to do in the movie, but the delivering seen is too long. The camera has a good effects and views as the guy is running but I would make it shorter. I like how it has an unpredictable ending and how it follows the guy walking down the sidewalk to end it.

I watched the fast food film and i actually it really creeped me out. It was interesting how they put cartoon and clip art on real images and things but i think the guy talking about it was just a little ackward. but i understand the point of the film and his voice probably was made that way to go with the film. overall i probably wouldn't wanna watch this again.

The movie that i watched was Love Letter, i think it did a great job showing the passage of time by all of the letters that he wrote, and the scene of him running had a lot of amazing different shots and angels, but i thought that the running scene went too long.

I watched a video called "It had to be you." It was about a boy who was in love with his iBook. He softly held it close, took it on long walks in the park, and tried playing catch with it. Overall, the movie was filmed very well, and there were some effects that added just enough pizazz to it. However, the plot seemed dry and dull and the video did not excite me in the least bit.

This is Brittany's post:

The film I chose was Grilled. When I chose it I had no idea what it was going to be about, but in the end I was glad I picked that one. It was about women changing society and society changing women. In the beginning it showed everyone from Lucille Ball to Rosa Parks, and how they made an impact. But then it went to stars like Britney Spears and how they are setting a bad example for children. It interviewed a little girl about what she wanted to be like and it was just like Britney Spears: skinny, short shirts, tight short skirts, a lot of make up etc. She thought she was fat and that boys only like skinny girls. It shows the message that the media is giving to kids today. I loved the message it gave. I think it could have been put together a little better but the meaning covered up for that!

I watched the short movie, 'Sweatshops'. It wasn't what I was expecting at all, that's for sure, but it told the truth about what companies do to make the apparel we wear. I really did enjoy watching it though. It provided me with information I did not know. The movie itself was not put together very well. All it did was display pictures, which were hard to see, but the information it gave was very interesting!
